The Osu Street Perfomers Festival

The annual Osu Street Performers Festival  started in 1978 as an alternative to the Nagoya Festival. Around 250 street performers, musicians, and artists will be showing off their skills with their dancing, juggling, and magic routines.The highlight of the festival are the oiran processions through the packed streets of the Osu shopping district. The oiran, were high-class, Edo-era female entertainers only available to Japan’s wealthiest and highest ranking officials.
