This festival is held at the Toyokuni Shrine, the birthplace Toyotomi Hideyoshi a preeminent daimyo, warrior, general, samurai, and politician of the Sengoku period who is regarded as Japan’s second “great unifier”
It is a two-day event featuring parades of mikoshi (a portable shrine people carrying in a festival) and chigo (children beautifully dressed in kimonos with heavy make up) A great chance to enjoy some local culture and learn a bit about Nagoya’s history.
