Gentlemen, no longer must we suffer through some cafe’s diminutive interpretation of the most important meal of the day. For now we can finally have a decent midday repast in Sakae that doesn’t involve the words quiche or parfait. Gentlemen, welcome to the Rock… for lunch.
Considered by many to be one of the best foreign-themed pubs in Nagoya, the Red Rock is famous for it’s excellent happy hour and extensive menu including the Australia-inspired Crocodile Nuggets and some of the best meat pies this side of Bendigo. The new lunch menu offers several of their most popular dishes at a more affordable price than whatever hoity-toity cafe your significant other dragged you to last time. Plus, it’s convenient location, just behind the Chunichi Building, brings a much-needed alternative to McDonald’s and Subway to this side of town.
For ¥850 yen (¥1000 with a drink), you get your choice of main course with soup and dessert. The choices are subject to change, but currently include Beef and Guinness Pie, Fish and Chips and the Yank Burger, one of the best hamburgers in Nagoya. There is also a vegetarian option, pasta and a rice dish. All this on top of a welcoming atmosphere, helpful staff and friendly clientele makes the Red Rock the only evidence you need the next time you are making the argument for why lunch doesn’t have to suck.
The new lunch menu is available Tuesday to Friday from 11:30 to 3:00. Regular evening hours and Happy Hour as always! On Saturday and Sunday they serve Brunch from 11:30, Open all day!
