Recently there has been a tendency towards artisanal burgers. It seems you can’t walk into a burger joint without some hipster knobhead shoving a halloumi and feta venison burger with sun dried tomatoes served in a mason jar in your face. Well enough is enough. The OXO burger is one for the classic purists. The meat is succulent and has a tendency to send juice dribbling down your chin, but it is the toppings that bring the flashes of happier, simpler times to mind: smatterings of onion; loads of lettuce; lashings of ketchup, mayo and mustard and a huge slice of bacon that hangs out of the pouting burger looking as if the Rolling Stones had designed their logo in a butcher shop. Classic, mouth-watering goodness with a rock ‘n’ roll twist.
Burger: Tenderly succulent.
Bun: Nicely crispy.
Filling stars: The classic condiments of ketchup, mustard and mayo.
Fries: Wedge cut, skin on, as nature intended.
