Could you tell us a bit about yourself? When did you move to Nagoya and what are your experiences since you’ve been here?
I moved to Nagoya in 2006 with my family. We lived in a few neighborhoods before we bought our apartment in Ozone. I love living in Ozone because it has all the conveniences of living in Sakae or near Nagoya station without the hustle and bustle.
What is your area of expertise?
I am a generalist, so my expertise is very broad. For nearly 20 years, I have been helping people resolve emotional and developmental issues. My current focus is therapy for individuals, couples, and families.
You offer counseling on a one to one basis, and obviously you maintain a strict level of confidentiality. What kinds of issues do you help people deal with?
I help people work through whatever is preventing them from thriving in Japan. My goal is to help to people enjoy life in Japan. I think Japan is an amazing place to live and raise a family. I want everyone to have as positive an experience as possible while they are in Japan.
Adjustment Guidance offers a range of services in addition to counseling. Could you tell us more about the things you do?
I discovered early-on that to help my clients thrive in Japan meant supporting them beyond the therapy session. I am fortunate enough to have a therapy support team. My therapy support team members are bilingual native English speakers. They help clients find their way around town and anything else they need. As an example, most recently, we helped a client find a convenient dry cleaners and taught them the Japanese necessary to get their weekly dry cleaning done.
Your services are in Native English is that right?
Therapy services are provided in English, but our therapy support services are provided by native English speakers who are fluent in Japanese. So many day-to-day things require a bit of Japanese to accomplish, and the support team being bilingual ensures that whatever the clients’ needs, we can help.
Where is your office located?
Our offices are located in the Ozone neighborhood of Nagoya, just a short walk from Ozone station. Ozone station is a commuter hub and is just 12 minutes from Nagoya station by train and 11 minutes from Sakae by Subway.
Do you do telephone or Skype consultations?
Yes, we do Skype and telephone consultations. I always suggest that, if possible, new clients come to the office for the first few sessions before starting Skype or telephone sessions.
What is the best way for people to contact you?
The best way to reach us is however people are most comfortable doing so. They can call the office directly at 080-9170-8822, or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org if they prefer. Because our therapy office is open only during therapy sessions, we ask that people not come to the office outside of their own appointment times.
