Maple and Mounties – The 2017 ACCJ Champagne Ball
November 17, 2017

This year the Annual ACCJ/ TJCS Champagne Ball & Awards Evening is celebrating Canada and its rich traditions.

Held on the 3rd Friday in November each year the Champagne Ball is the ‘not to be missed’ celebration of all things great about Nagoya, its community and its people.

It’s a night of fun, food and music. It’s a social occasion and one you can attend with your spouse, partner, friend or on your own. Contrary to popular opinion you do not have to have a partner to attend. When you reserve on line, you may like to state whom you would like to be seated with, but you don’t have to. If you are on your own – say so and we’ll seat you at a table where you can meet new friends to talk, eat, drink and dance with. There are usually 10 people to a table and so by the night’s end you will have met new people, enjoyed great food and danced your feet off. And then there’s the After Party . . .(not included in the ticket price)

Chris Hori and his team at Hilton Nagoya have crafted a delicious menu of Canada’s fine foods, from Bilini with Smoked Salmon and Sour Cream coupled with pre-dinner bubbly to a mouth watering selection of Garlic Prawns, Roasted Confit Sirloin, Roasted Crispy Pork Belly (and more) including delicious vegetarian dishes. The taste extravaganza continues with Chris and his team producing an amazing selection of Canadian desserts such as Flapper Pie, Saskatoon Rhubarb Pie and of course to be truly Canadian – Nanaimo Bars. Would you like more? There’s a lot more.

This is the Twelfth Annual Champagne Ball but it’s also an Awards Evening. Both the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) and the Tokai Japan Canada Society (TJCS) formally acknowledge, at this time, someone whose commitment and service is greatly valued within their organization and the local community.

The ACCJ Chubu Chapter honoring with specific awards for Volunteer of the Year and Leader of the Year.

After the serious, there’s the dancing – and a lot of dancing there will be! The Unit has returned with lead singer Dwayne Spicer who last year had everyone’s feet aching by the night’s end. This year it’ll be shoes kicked high (or off), jackets removed and the dance floor ignited in color, song and energy. There will be a nod to some of Canada’s great artists including “Stompin’ Tom Connors”, BTO and (of course) more – so come dance the night away.

The Champagne Ball is also well known for it’s fabulous raffle prizes and this year is no exception.

They include an Air Canada trip for 2 to any of their destinations in North America (not just Canada) from Nagoya, Tokyo or Osaka; a United Airlines flight for 2 to Guam, and a DELTA flight for 2 to Hawaii. Also closer to home, are wonderful prizes given by the local community. You will just have to be there to win!

All raffle proceeds are donated to charity. This year the recipients will be the CHUBU WALKATHON (which distributes to a variety of charities in the Chubu area), to the nominated charities of the ACCJ, and also to the Chubu Children’s Fund (CCF) a charity set up last year to assist high school students from the local orphanages to attend university – a difficult and challenging problem that they face. For this reason, we encourage those at the Ball to buy additional raffle tickets to support these worthy community support groups. Each person attending the Ball will receive one raffle ticket as part of their package but with these exceptional prizes, not to mention the worthwhile causes, we think you’ll be eager to buy more.
