Step 400 years into the past with
The Nagoya Omotenashi Busho-tai!
Nagoya is where modern Japan was born. Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, three men who each could be considered Japan’s “Napoleon” all hail from here. Today you can meet them, three other famous historical figures, and their foot soldiers collectively called the Nagoya Samurai Kings, or “The Nagoya Omotenashi Busho-Tai”. Feel free to have a chat with them, watch their performances and enjoy an experience 400 years in the making.
The Nagoya Samurai Kings started in 2009 for the benefit of Nagoya visitors, and is made up of six renowned Nagoya samurai and four ashigaru (foot soldiers). Stepping into the present from their home in the past 400 years ago, they retain their clothing, customs speech and knowledge of Feudal Japan. Their mission is to show everyone around Japan and the world what makes Nagoya such a great and special place.
Every day at Nagoya Castle you can take a photo or talk about history with these samurai and be taken back to the Sengoku (warring states) Period.
On Saturday, Sunday and Holidays you can see an amazing stage performance with sword battles, dancing, and Taiko drumming from 11:00 & 14:30. Check on the web for their exact schedule.
If you are holding an event, you can also hire the Samurai Kings who will perform in English, or Ninjas who will perform in English or Chinese; guests can participate too! Email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
