Education Feature: ICAN

A Close-Knit Christian School for K through 12

Allison Jones

The International Christian Academy of Nagoya (ICAN) is an international school located in Nagakute City, to the east of Nagoya (the fourth largest city in Japan).  ICAN warmly welcomes students of any racial, ethnic, or religious background.

We offer a unique and high quality education for students in Kindergarten 12th grade.  All instruction is offered in English by certified teachers using a North American college-preparatory curriculum.  The school also provides English as a Second Language (ESL) services by a qualified teacher for those students who need additional support with English language mastery.

High school graduates of ICAN are awarded a diploma equivalent to one received in American schools.  Therefore, they are afforded the opportunity to apply to and attend universities not only in Japan, but universities in America, Europe, Asia, or anywhere in the world!  Recent ICAN graduates have attended Nagoya University, Asbury University, Moody Bible Institute and Aviation School, Trinity University of Asia in the Philippines, and Masaryk University in the Czech Republic.

ICAN’s uniqueness is evident through the close-knit community of educators who work together to create an individualized learning program that challenges each student to reach his greatest academic potential.  Value is placed on developing students academically, socially, and spiritually for the purpose of preparing them for success as responsible global citizens of the future.
ICAN is dually-accredited through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).  We are also grateful to be a part of the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS).

We offer an educational program to accommodate Japanese and expatriate families within an atmosphere that fosters Christian character and growth.
