Aichi International School opened its doors in the spring of 2000 as Nagoya International Preschool and then expanded to become an elementary school in 2006. With over 100 students and 17 faculty members AIS has developed into one of Nagoya’s most highly regarded International schools.
The school is set beside a verdant park near Hoshigaoka and the students, who come from a variety of countries and backgrounds, are taught by an equally diverse and enthusiastic English-speaking faculty. Class sizes are small and the curriculum is taught in English with an emphasis on Japanese study in both language and math skills.
The combination of cultures and languages works well, especially for dual-nationality kids, children from other countries and even Japanese who are looking for an English-language learning environment. The atmosphere is bright and cheerful and kids get that extra amount of attention that encourages them to learn and feel confident about their abilities. In addition AIS is accredited by The Western Association of Schools and Colleges from Kindergarten to G6, and has been granted membership to the UNESCO Associated Schools Group.AIS is unique in offering an extensive musical education (every child is taught to play the violin) and the school features pageants and activities throughout the year that encourage the children’s creative and social skills. It is a fun place to go to school!
One of the biggest events in the school’s yearly calendar is their Halloween Party and it is also a great chance for you to visit to see what AIS is all about as they allow guests to attend.
The Halloween party is one of the biggest kids parties in town and features a different game in each of the various classrooms. Kids get a stamp card to take to each activity and at the end of the night they can exchange it for a goodie bag. Of course the decorations are a big part of the fun and their are lots to enjoy, especially the bouncy castle.
The party is staggered with kindergarten kids enjoying the fun between 13:30 and 15:00 and elementary kids which have their party from 18:00 to 20:00.
Only 30 Kindergarten kids are invited to join (with an adult) and an additional 30 Elementary aged kids can join as well. Be sure to contact AIS by October 14 if you’d like your child to attend.
